Wine-not make a Lamp?!

image

It’s trickier than it appears. On the ‘bright’ side I enjoyed a lot of wine along the way.

Discovered that goo gone was my new best friend.

image

Cracked two bottles drilling with a masonry drill bit. Bought a diamond tip drill bit and finally succeeded. (Isn’t my cat cool?!)

image

I have a love/hate relationship with drilling glass. Aggravating/Invigorating.

image

Experimented with two different types of light strands…

image

Incandescent: Bright and Beautiful, but HOT!

image

LED: Elegant and Eerie, and NOT a fire hazard!

And since I now have wine-lamp-making skills, time to repeat. Cheers!

Cali Christmas

Side by Side (4)

Side by side, we found joy in winter. The mitten state our new home.

I said I’d leave you, for the ocean. But my heart would never roam.

As seasons changed, we grew wiser. Such brilliance in letting life be.

I’m so thankful, for Cali Christmas. But I wish you were here with me.

…In loving memory of my dad

My Neck o’ the Woods

DSC_0019_1Autumn is overtaking my neighborhood.

(warm sun, crisp breeze, content heart)

DSC_0034_1Moments like this the city is a portal.

(waters ripple, bird sings, still mind)

Solitude

DSC_0029_1

I took a trip to nowhere,

hear it’s called ‘Mirror Lake.’

Strange how soon I’ve forgotten,

this escape that I did take.

Reflections of the shoreline,

intrigued me while alone.

Solitude my company,

revealed how much I’ve grown.

As my new adage goes…

When life gives you limes,

make

Mojitos!

Freshly picked, minty twist

on sour/sorrow.

Senses can sense beauty,

all around, all the time.

A glass exists,

whether half empty or half full.

Accepting life’s limes,

one

small

sip

at a time.

Sturdy glass required:

1/2 a fresh lime (quartered)
8 fresh mint leaves
3/4 Tbsp pure maple syrup

Muddle!
Muddle!
Muddle!
(Put some elbow into it. Sing a tune. Think it can only get better! It feels super to muddle.)

Cover concoction with crushed ice.
(Love my ‘mean ice-crushing machine’ – requires suction cups on counter and safety glasses!)

Top ice with 1 1/2 shots of 100 proof rum.
(Replace 100 proof with 80 proof if plans involve, oh say, completing a blog in one night.)

Add about 3 splashes soda water.

Give the mix a quick stir, stir, stir.

Garnish with freshly squeezed mint sprig. (more squeeze = more minty aroma)
