…In loving memory of my dad
When life gives you limes,
Freshly picked, minty twist
Senses can sense beauty,
all around, all the time.
A glass exists,
whether half empty or half full.
Accepting life’s limes,
at a time.
Sturdy glass required:
1/2 a fresh lime (quartered)
8 fresh mint leaves
3/4 Tbsp pure maple syrup
(Put some elbow into it. Sing a tune. Think it can only get better! It feels super to muddle.)
Cover concoction with crushed ice.
(Love my ‘mean ice-crushing machine’ – requires suction cups on counter and safety glasses!)
Top ice with 1 1/2 shots of 100 proof rum.
(Replace 100 proof with 80 proof if plans involve, oh say, completing a blog in one night.)
Add about 3 splashes soda water.
Give the mix a quick stir, stir, stir.
Garnish with freshly squeezed mint sprig. (more squeeze = more minty aroma)
